AHIP Lines Up US$95M Sale Of Six More U.S. Hotels

Vancouver-based American Hotel Income Properties has lined up another six U.S. hotel sales expected to generate about US$95M as the REIT rapidly reduces its portfolio.

AHIP has signed agreements to sell five hotels and expects a sixth to be under contract shortly. The properties are in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Florida, although AHIP has not disclosed the individual assets, buyers or pricing.

They are in addition to three previously announced hotel sales: a Fairfield Inn & Suites in Jacksonville and a Residence Inn and TownePlace Suites in Chattanooga.

Most of the latest six sales are expected to close by year-end.

The transactions would significantly reduce AHIP’s U.S. footprint. The TSX-listed REIT entered 2026 with 31 hotels and sold eight for US$134.1M during the first half. It has since completed the sale of its Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Fort Myers.

If the nine hotels now under agreement or expected to be under agreement all sell, AHIP would be left with about 13 properties.

AHIP plans to use the money from the hotel sales, along with cash it already has, to repay about US$75M it owes investors by year-end.
