Alterra Invests $42.5M In Mont-Tremblant Expansion

Alterra Mountain Company is investing $42.5 million to expand its Mont-Tremblant ski area with new terrain and lift infrastructure.

The Timber Summit project will add 62 acres of skiable terrain, eight trails and the Timber Express, a high-speed quad chairlift, for the 2027-28 winter season. The lift will carry up to 2,400 skiers hourly, boosting overall capacity by 10%.

Seven trails will descend toward Versant Soleil, while one will connect with the mountain’s north side. Beginner and intermediate runs will account for 95% of the added terrain, which will have complete snowmaking coverage.

Development activity has also increased around the mountain. The Alterra project follows the $90.5-million sale of Mont-Tremblant’s pedestrian retail village in December 2025. Brasswater, Olymbec and the Fayer Family Office acquired the 135,600-square-foot property from LaSalle Investment Management.

There is also significant development on the southeast side of the mountain at Versant Soleil. Groupe Brivia and Club Med are planning an all-season resort at L’Hymne-des-Trembles featuring a roughly 300-room hotel and multi-residential units.

Update: Construction has started on the $250M Club Med Tremblant resort, with the property scheduled to open in December 2028.

Alterra owns the ski area but not adjoining developments. Its investment also includes a 1.1-acre beginner area opening in 2026-27.
