Arc’teryx Getting Set to Open New Vancouver Flagship Store

Arc’teryx will officially open its new flagship store in a former Roots outlet location in downtown Vancouver on Saturday, the company announced on LinkedIn.

Special events are also expected to be held Sunday, said North Vancouver, B.C.-based outdoor gear and clothing retailer and manufacturer.

The store is located at 1001 Robson Street. The prominent corner at Burrard and Robson streets in downtown Vancouver will see a significant transformation with the Canadian outdoor apparel retailer’s expansion.

Roots closed its doors after 25 years at the location and reopen its flagship store in June at the former Peloton showroom at 919 Robson Street.

The new Arc’teryx store spans 6,430 square feet. It is double the size of an Arc’teryx store at 813 Burrard Street, which the retailer had occupied since 2017. The new store will replace the outlet at the latter address.

The former Roots site, a historic single-storey retail building constructed in 1911, is one of the oldest along the iconic Robson retail strip. Its other tenants include La Vie en Rose, Sunglass Hut, and Rocky Mountain Chocolate.

This move by Arc’teryx is part of the ongoing reshaping of Robson Street’s retail landscape. Adidas opened a 35,000-sf flagship store at 969 Robson Street, and JD Sports began operating its own flagship store at 1034 Robson Street.
