Bombardier Takes 270K-SF Mississauga Aerospace Plant

A major aerospace manufacturing operation near Toronto Pearson International Airport is set to come under Bombardier’s control as the aircraft maker brings a critical piece of its supply chain in-house.

Bombardier has agreed to acquire the operating assets of MHI Canada Aerospace in Mississauga, including its aerostructures business and approximately 750 employees.

The operation is anchored by a leased, purpose-built 270,000-SF manufacturing and assembly plant at 6390 Northwest Dr. MHI Canada Aerospace also operates an adjacent 70,000-SF supply-chain and logistics centre.

Employees at the facilities assemble wings, centre-fuselage sections and flight-control components for Bombardier’s Global 5500, Global 6500 and Challenger 3500 business jets. Bringing that capacity in-house will give Bombardier greater control over production as demand for business aircraft rises.

“This agreement represents a key step in Bombardier’s long-term growth strategy, strengthening critical capabilities, enhancing operational resilience and supporting the company’s flexibility to meet growing customer demand,” said David Murray, Bombardier’s executive vice-president of manufacturing and supply-chain execution.

The deal also preserves a significant industrial use in the airport employment area, one of the Greater Toronto Area’s largest concentrations of logistics, manufacturing and aviation businesses.

The companies did not disclose the purchase price or other transaction terms. Their joint announcement describes an acquisition of operating assets and does not indicate that the underlying real estate is included. Details of the site’s future lease arrangements were not disclosed.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will provide transitional support following closing. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close later in 2026.
