CF Rideau Centre Lands 3 Williams-Sonoma Brands For Former Nordstrom

More than three years after Nordstrom left Canada, all six of its former full-line stores now have major permanent replacement tenants announced or operating. Ottawa is the latest.

Cadillac Fairview says Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn and West Elm will open together on Level 3 of CF Rideau Centre at 50 Rideau St. in spring 2027, bringing all three brands to Ottawa for the first time.

They will occupy part of the 157K-SF, two-level store Nordstrom closed in 2023. A Cadillac Fairview leasing plan from May shows the former Nordstrom block on Level 3 at 78,870 SF, giving the landlord a substantial floor plate to divide among the new tenants.

That subdivision has been taking shape for months. City building permit records from December identified base-building work for Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Dollarama and storage on the third floor. CBRE, which represents Williams-Sonoma’s Canadian real estate requirements, has identified the Rideau Centre transaction as a flagship deal.

Nordstrom opened the Ottawa store in 2015 as part of Cadillac Fairview’s $360M redevelopment of the mall.

The approach mirrors what has happened across much of Nordstrom’s former Canadian portfolio. CF Toronto Eaton Centre’s box has been fully leased to Simons, Eataly and Nike, while Simons and Aritzia are taking large pieces of the former Vancouver store. At CF Sherway Gardens, Splitsville Bowl has committed to 34K SF, although much of that 140K-SF former Nordstrom remains to be repositioned.
