Engineering Firms Team Up to Expand Civil and Structural Expertise

Engineering firms BPA and GENIE+ have merged in a move aimed at expanding civil and structural engineering expertise and strengthening services across Eastern Quebec.

The partnership brings together BPA, a Canadian engineering firm specializing in building systems and related services, and GENIE+, a consulting firm focused primarily on structural and civil engineering for projects in sectors such as residential, commercial, institutional, industrial and infrastructure development.

“By combining our knowledge, we can provide clients with in-depth expertise, especially in structural and civil engineering, along with a broader range of services,” said Patrick St-Onge, executive vice-president at BPA.

Dominic Latour, CEO of BPA, said the partnership builds on shared corporate values and will support the firms’ growth and innovation.

“Built on our shared values of integrity and excellence, this partnership will enable us to deliver integrated and innovative building engineering solutions, diversify our client base, and expand into new markets,” he said.

GENIE+ President Marc-André Jacob said the merger is expected to strengthen services for clients while creating new opportunities for employees.

“This merger will create new opportunities for our clients, who will benefit from improved integrated engineering services, and for our employees, who will gain access to additional resources and professional development opportunities,” he said.

Following the transaction, Jacob will continue in his role as leader and designer while helping to consolidate and expand the group’s presence in Eastern Quebec. All GENIE+ employees will remain with the company and continue their roles within BPA.

The merger represents BPA’s 10th acquisition in the past three years and aligns with the firm’s broader growth strategy. Financial terms of the private transaction were not disclosed, said the company.
