Germain, Reliance Converting Vancouver Office to Boutique Hotel
Germain Hotels and Reliance Properties are teaming up to bring a new Le Germain hotel to downtown Vancouver.
The Montreal-based hospitality company and local investor-developer Reliance will convert an office building at 1111 West Hastings Street into a 180-room boutique hotel slated to open in 2029.
Set in the Coal Harbour neighbourhood, the upcoming hotel will offer sweeping views of the North Shore Mountains and waterfront. The design will be led by LemayMichaud and aims to reflect local artistry and Vancouver’s unique urban character.
“Expanding into Vancouver is a major milestone for our company,” said Hugo Germain, vice-president of operations at Germain Hotels. “As a family-owned Canadian business, we are deeply committed to creating meaningful projects that leave a lasting impact.”
Reliance, which has played a significant role in shaping Vancouver’s skyline, is equally enthusiastic.
“This hotel will not only bring a new level of boutique hospitality to Vancouver, but will also play a key role in shaping the city’s urban landscape and help to address Vancouver’s critical shortage of hotel rooms,” said Reliance President and CEO Jon Stovell. “Both of our families are deeply rooted in the Canadian business community, and this project reflects our mutual commitment to building a strong and prosperous future for Vancouver.”
The project also marks a coast-to-coast milestone for Germain, which will now operate in 12 cities across Canada. The new location will be the company’s 22nd property and the ninth under the Le Germain banner, following the recent announcement of Le Germain Hotel Casino de Montréal.
Founded more than 35 years ago, Germain Hotels operates three brands—Le Germain, Alt, and Escad.
Reliance, a family-owned Vancouver firm founded in 1954, has over 70 years of experience in real estate development and property management. Its portfolio includes commercial and residential projects throughout Vancouver and Victoria, including award-winning developments such as One Burrard Place.
