Harry Rosen Moves Bloor Flagship As Redevelopment Site Clears
Harry Rosen is preparing to open its new 38,000-SF Toronto flagship at 153 Cumberland St. on Sept. 21, completing a closely watched move from its longtime home at 82 Bloor St. W. and freeing up a key piece of a major Yorkville redevelopment site.
The luxury menswear retailer will close the Bloor store Saturday after nearly four decades at the property. The new three-storey flagship is less than 200 metres away and forms part of KingSett Capital’s 130 Bloor St. W. property.
KingSett is Harry Rosen’s development partner on the new store, which converts existing retail and office space overlooking Village of Yorkville Park. Designed by DK Studio Architects, it includes a central staircase and atrium, dedicated shops for brands including Zegna, Tom Ford and Giorgio Armani, private client and made-to-measure areas and an outdoor event patio.
The relocation is the centrepiece of Harry Rosen’s $50M multiyear investment in its Canadian store network.
The move also puts renewed focus on 82 Bloor. The property forms part of the assembled 80-82 Bloor St. W. site controlled by Krugarand, which has approvals for two 72-storey residential towers above a 17-storey podium containing retail and replacement office space.
The roughly 29,500-SF site also includes the adjoining 18-storey office building at 80 Bloor. No demolition or construction timetable has been announced.
