Historic New West Jewelry Store Listed for Sale

A well-known piece of New Westminster, B.C.’s history, is on the market.

Royal City Jewellers, a staple on Columbia Street for nearly 70 years, is being listed for sale at $9 million by eXp Realty.

The store, also known as Royal City Pawn Shop, comprises about 8,000 square feet of retail space and claims to be Canada’s largest pawnbroker. The listing highlights its central downtown location, just steps from the New Westminster SkyTrain station and neighbouring amenities like cafés and boutiques.

Daily Hive Urbanized reported that one major condition comes with the property sale: The business must be sold along with the building. This clause means the beloved storefront will continue operating, much to the relief of local residents concerned about the loss of historic retail spaces, according to the Hive.
