Jones Healthcare Wins Approval To Acquire Brampton Manufacturing Facility

Jones Healthcare is set to expand its Brampton industrial footprint with the acquisition of a 49,280-square-foot manufacturing facility at 5 Abacus Rd.

The Ontario Superior Court approved the transaction July 28 as part of restructuring proceedings involving Good Natured Products Packaging Brampton. Jones is acquiring the real estate and substantially all the operating assets at the facility.

The real estate transaction is expected to close during the week beginning Aug. 31, following an interim lease and due diligence period. Financial terms remain under seal.

The Class B flex and light-manufacturing building was constructed in 1990. It has six truck-level doors, two drive-in doors and M1 industrial zoning.

Marketing materials listed the property for approximately $17.8 million, although that figure does not represent the court-approved transaction price.

Jones produces packaging and medication-dispensing products for pharmaceutical, health-care and consumer brands. The company already operates a separate 76,000-square-foot pharmaceutical packaging facility on Walker Drive.

The acquisition would bring Jones’s combined footprint at the two Brampton properties to approximately 125,280 square feet.

The Abacus Road property is occupied by Good Natured Products Packaging Brampton, which manufactures plant-based and recyclable packaging. Jones has been a Good Natured customer since 2021 and uses its materials in medication-adherence packaging.

Jones plans to offer employment to at least 15 workers at the acquired operation. The company has not disclosed whether it intends to expand or redevelop the property.
