La Caisse Invests C$1.76B Alongside Brookfield In India Telecom Tower Platform
La Caisse has invested approximately C$1.76 billion for a 24% interest in Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust, putting another major Canadian institution behind India’s rapidly expanding digital infrastructure market.
Altius owns and operates more than 258,000 telecom towers and sites across India, providing infrastructure used by mobile operators for 4G and 5G networks. Brookfield remains the platform’s largest investor following the transaction, with affiliates of GIC and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation also retaining stakes.
The transaction included units sold by Brookfield vehicle BIF IV Jarvis India and GIC affiliate Anahera Investment. Based on La Caisse’s purchase price, the 24% stake implies an equity valuation of roughly C$7.3 billion for Altius.
The investment comes as Altius prepares for a potential public listing of its infrastructure investment trust. Indian media reported the planned offering could raise approximately 60 billion rupees.
La Caisse did not disclose an expected return for the investment. Emmanuel Jaclot, Executive Vice-President and Head of Infrastructure and Sustainability, said growing mobile-data use requires infrastructure investment to keep pace.
India was already a major market for La Caisse, which had approximately C$10 billion invested there at the end of 2025, including renewable-energy and transportation infrastructure.
