Long-Delayed Campbell River Hotel Project Breaks Ground
A Four Points by Sheraton hotel announced for Campbell River more than six years ago has broken ground at Quinsam Crossing.
We Wai Kai Nation owns and is developing the 102-room hotel at 200 Brant Dr. Hotel Equities will operate the property after it opens under Marriott International’s Four Points by Sheraton brand.
The hotel is expected to open in spring 2028.
The project was initially announced in March 2020, when construction was scheduled to begin in the third quarter of that year.
The hotel will be part of Quinsam Crossing, We Wai Kai Nation’s 60-acre commercial development next to Highway 19. The site is minutes from downtown Campbell River and Campbell River Airport.
Quinsam Crossing includes retail and service businesses and is being developed as a shopping, employment and entertainment destination serving northern Vancouver Island. Its name reflects the area’s traditional role as a resting place for people travelling between the coast and inland destinations.
Hotel Equities said the project is expected to create construction and hospitality jobs for We Wai Kai Nation members and provide the Nation with a long-term source of revenue.
The project’s development cost was not disclosed.
