Maple Ridge Looking to Develop Light-industrial Park
The City of Maple Ridge, B.C., is looking to develop a light-industrial park north of 256th street.
The suburban Vancouver city has launched a 20-month planning and public engagement process to develop the North 256 Street Industrial Lands. The initiative aims to attract businesses, create jobs, and expand the city’s industrial-land supply.
“The North 256 Street lands have long been planned for industrial use, and unlocking their potential will strengthen our local economy and help address the regional shortage of industrial land,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “For years, Maple Ridge has relied on residential property taxes. Now is the time to take bold steps to diversify our tax base and economy.”
The area is currently home to gravel extraction, institutional operations and limited industrial use. The plan will focus on clean technology, advanced manufacturing, and transportation sectors while addressing transportation access, infrastructure needs, and environmental considerations.
The city expects to complete the plan by late 2026, with amendments to its Official Community Plan and Metro Vancouver’s Regional Growth Strategy.
