Mattamy Launches the Laurels Multi-Res Project in Milton
Mattamy Homes has launched the Laurels multi-residential project in the Toronto suburb of Milton, Ont.
The development site is located at Britannia Road and Regional Road 25. Plans call for the construction of four towers.
The first phase will comprise a condominium tower. The project is part of launches this fall by Mattay’s Greater Toronto Area urban division, alongside ClockWork at Upper Joshua Creek Phase 4 in Oakville, Ont., and the Clove in Etobicoke, in partnership with Vancouver-based QuadReal.
The recently launched Clove is part of QuadReal’s massive Cloverdale mall redevelopment project.
“At Mattamy, we believe in Milton and in creating more opportunities for Canadians to realize their dreams of homeownership,” said Niall Haggart, president of Mattamy’s GTA urban division. “The Laurels offers housing that is attainable, sustainable, and designed to connect residents with the natural beauty of the area.”
The Laurels will prioritize affordability, with prices starting in the $500,000s. Most of the Phase 1 units (60%) will contain one bedroom and a den, catering to first-time buyers and tenants in cases where suites are rented out.
The tower will comprise 14 storeys and comprise 216 units, according to the Laurels website.
The development will be designed by CORE Architects and will serve as a central hub in the broader master-planned community, said Mattamy.
Amenities will include retail spaces and a promenade that integrates with the adjacent Natural Heritage System (NHS).
In keeping with Mattamy’s commitment to sustainability, Phase 1 of the Laurels will feature geothermal heating and cooling systems, aimed at minimizing the project’s carbon footprint, said the company. Additionally, the development will offer 5,000 square feet of retail space, creating a main street feel.
Future phases will bring more retail options and amenities, such as a gym, yoga studio, and party room.
“The buildings will be laid out for optimal views and crafted with robust materials, such as brick bases, to evoke warmth and a sense of craftsmanship,” said Brian Laye, a CORE partner.
The Laurels is set to be a cornerstone for the future of Milton, with occupancy for Phase 1 expected in fall 2027 and full completion by winter 2029, said Mattamy. The company added that it is working closely with the Region of Halton, the Town of Milton, and conservation partners to ensure the development aligns with local goals.
