Northstar Extends Delta Shingle-Reprocessing Plant Lease

Northstar Clean Technologies has secured a 15-year lease extension for its Delta, B.C., facility, reinforcing its long-term strategy to develop asphalt-shingle reprocessing sites across North America.

The lease extension provides Northstar with the option to retrofit the Delta location, previously a pilot facility, into a commercial-scale operation, said Northstar President and CEO Aidan Mills. The site already holds the necessary regulatory approvals and permits for light-industrial use, allowing for future expansion with reduced permitting and site development costs.

Northstar’s pilot operations at the Delta facility helped validate its reprocessing technology, laying the groundwork for its first full-scale commercial site in Calgary, where the company is based.

The Delta-based company remains focused on commissioning and ramping up the Calgary facility while continuing plans for new locations in Hamilton, Ontario, and the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region.

Northstar specializes in sustainable recovery and reprocessing of asphalt shingles, extracting liquid asphalt, aggregate, and fibre for reuse in construction and industrial applications. The company aims to advance the circular economy by diverting asphalt-shingle waste from landfills and repurposing materials for commercial use.
