Ovivo Sells Electronics Division to Ecolab in $2.4B Deal

Ovivo has completed the previously announced sale of its Electronics division to Ecolab in a transaction valued at approximately $2.4 billion.

The definitive agreement, made alongside shareholder SKion Water closed earlier than expected. Ovivo said previously said it was expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.

Ovivo said the transaction marks a “significant milestone” in its history and opens new perspectives and opportunities for the Electronics division within Ecolab’s global platform. The sale will also spearhead a new phase of growth for Ovivo as the company focuses on its Municipal/Industrial/PFAS, Energy and Cembrane divisions. (PFAS stands for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances.)

Ovivo’s former Electronics division employees are moving to Ecolab as part of the agreement.

“I am confident that, as part of Ecolab, they will continue to thrive and reach new heights,” said Marc Barbeau, Ovivo’s president and CEO.

Ovivo will play a key role as SKion Water continues to pursue its growth strategy, said Reinhard Huebner, SKion’s president and CEO.

“The next phase of Ovivo will be focused on accelerating both organic and inorganic growth across its municipal, energy, and cembrane businesses, while expanding its industrial footprint in North America through strategic acquisitions in key sectors,” he said.
“In the coming months, we will also strengthen collaboration across the SKion Water portfolio and further integrate the corporate functions of SKion Water and Ovivo, enabling us to fully leverage our in-house expertise.”

Based in Montreal, Ovivo is a global provider of water and wastewater treatment equipment, technology and systems, with operations in 18 countries and more than 1,500 employees.

Ecolab, headquartered in Saint Paul, Minn., is a global sustainability company that provides water, hygiene and infection-prevention solutions and services in more than 170 countries, employing 48,000 people worldwide. The firm’s Canadian headquarters is located in Mississauga, Ont.

SKion Water and Ovivo are owned by the German entrepreneur family Klatten’s investment holding company SKion GmbH.
