Oxford Capital Sells Seven Ontario Seniors Housing Properties

Chicago-based Oxford Capital Group has sold seven seniors housing properties in Ontario, reducing its provincial portfolio from 15 retirement homes to eight.

The buyer, sale price and properties included in the transaction were not disclosed. Oxford also did not provide the number of suites, closing date or information about future management of the residences.

The properties were held through Oxford Living, the company’s private-pay, mid-market retirement housing platform. Oxford Living provides independent supportive living, assisted living, respite care and memory support at select communities.

Oxford entered Ontario’s retirement housing market in 2018 through a partnership with New York-based Starr Insurance Companies. It assembled its 15-property portfolio through two transactions valued at a combined $180 million. The portfolio comprised 1,293 suites in communities across southern and northern Ontario.

The cross-border disposition comes amid growing investor interest in Canadian seniors housing, supported by an aging population and limited new supply. National occupancy reached approximately 93 per cent at the end of 2025 and is forecast to approach 95 per cent by the end of 2026, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
