Peakhill Secures $350M Credit Facility to Accelerate Multi-Family Lending Across Canada
Peakhill Capital has secured a $350-million credit facility for its flagship Peakhill Income Opportunity LP, expanding its capacity to finance multi-family housing projects across Canada.
The facility was arranged by a syndicate of Bank of Montreal, Toronto-Dominion Bank and National Bank of Canada as co-lead arrangers and joint bookrunners, with Bank of Montreal acting as agent. Three additional banking partners also participated.
Peakhill said the financing will allow the fund to grow its lending portfolio to more than $1.2 billion nationwide. The fund will continue to focus on bridge financing for multi-family projects transitioning to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) financing, as well as CMHC-insured construction loans that support new housing development and stabilization. Its portfolio currently includes more than 230 mortgage investments across Canada.
“The strong support from this syndicate of leading Canadian and international banking institutions reflects the quality of our portfolio, the discipline of our underwriting, and the strength of our platform operations,” said Harley Gold, president and CEO of Peakhill. “This facility gives the LP the scale and flexibility to expand our financing capabilities at a time when the need for housing capital across Canada has never been greater.”
Peakhill said the expanded borrowing capacity will help diversify its lending relationships and support increased loan origination while maintaining its focus on insured and conventional commercial real estate financing.
Peakhill is a Toronto-based commercial real estate lender specializing in CMHC-insured and conventional financing. The company has more than 200 employees, manages a servicing portfolio exceeding $17 billion and has financed more than $4 billion across 600 transactions year-to-date.
