Leyad appointed Juan Calixto Tria as senior vice-president of financial reporting and compliance and Alex Ratté as vice-president of construction. Tria joined Leyad from Agellan Commercial REIT, while Ratté previously held senior project-management positions at Cominar and First Capital REIT.
Sienna Senior Living formed a 50-50 joint venture with Fiera Infrastructure to accelerate long-term-care redevelopment projects in Ontario. The venture is initially targeting projects with approximately $625 million in construction costs, with Sienna’s Glen Rouge and Streetsville communities among the first properties under consideration.
Ben Woodcock joined Partner Engineering and Science as director of building sciences. Woodcock previously worked at WSP and brings more than 20 years of property, construction and project-management experience to the position.
Montreal’s 418,822-square-foot Maison Radio-Canada changed hands in a major office transaction, according to CoStar. The recently constructed complex is fully occupied by CBC/Radio-Canada under a long-term lease extending to December 2049.
Minto Apartment REIT said its $2.3-billion going-private transaction with Crestpoint Real Estate Investments and Minto Group is expected to close August 7, subject to the remaining closing conditions.
Sweat and Tonic plans to open an 18,000-square-foot fitness and wellness club at 11 Yorkville in October. The location will be the company’s third full-service Toronto club and will include group fitness studios, recovery amenities and food-and-beverage offerings.
Prologis appointed Adam Hasen vice-president and Toronto market officer, overseeing 14 million square feet across 42 logistics properties in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
Goodfood Market obtained creditor protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act on Aug. 5 as it considers restructuring alternatives that could include refinancing or a sale. The company operates from three leased facilities in Greater Montreal, the Greater Toronto Area and Calgary, and leases two additional properties in Montreal and Ottawa that are subleased to third parties. No facility closures or changes to its leases have been announced.
Peakhill Capital promoted Reza Hafeez to senior associate, credit investments and Quebec team lead. Hafeez will take on expanded responsibilities supporting the firm’s lending and investment activities in Quebec.
