QuadReal Begins Preleasing on Archetype’s MF Component
QuadReal Property Group has begun to prelease the multi-family rental component of the forthcoming Archetype mixed-use development project in Vancouver’s False Creek Flats area. QuadReal is developing the project with Hungerford Properties.
Archetype has been described previously as the city’s first tri-mix development. The project features multi-residential, office, and light creative-industrial space at a single location.
Construction is already well underway and the project, located at East First Avenue and Main Street, is expected to be completed this year.
“Archetype transforms a previously underutilized area of the city into a highly connected, vibrant centre with homes, workplaces, and services all in one location,” said Paul Faibish, QuadReal’s senior vice-president of development. “We have blended multiple land-use types to create a mixed-use community that addresses the needs of this dynamic neighbourhood.”
The initiative is part of the city’s long-term plan to transform the 450-acre False Creek Flats area into a major employment hub, with projections of 22,000 new jobs being created over the next three decades.
The multi-residential component comprises a mid-rise building with 200 rental apartments.
Archetype is the latest project designed to grow QuadReal’s large Canadian multi-family portfolio. The Vancouver project follows the introduction of IMMIX in downtown Toronto and Brighstone in Mississauga, Ont., in 2024.
“This latest project demonstrates our long-term commitment to providing housing solutions across the affordability spectrum within high demand locations in Canada,” said Anthony Lanni, executive vice-president of QuadReal’s residential business.
Archetype will also contain an eight-storey office tower with up to 40 units and and two floors dedicated to light industry. The latter spaces are slated to house small-scale production, simple manufacturing, and food commissaries.
