Save-On Foods to Open New Small-Format Store in Port Moody

Save-On-Foods plans to open a new small-format grocery store in the Vancouver suburb of Port Moody, B.C.

Pattison Food Group, the parent of Save-On, announced the store-opening plan.

Located at 221 Ioco Road, the store will comprise 13,000 square feet, well below the typically large outlets for which Save-On is known. The site was previously occupied by Meiga Supermarket, whose parent Georgia Main Food has announced plans to close the store in August.

Palle Knudsen, Georgia Main’s vice-president of retail operations, attributed the decision to a “variety of business factors.”

The new Save-On store is slated to open in mid-September. Save-On last operated in Port Moody during the 1980s under the Mark-It banner, according to Canadian Grocer.
