Stellantis Strikes Preliminary Deal To Sell 2.95M-SF Brampton Plant
Stellantis has signed a memorandum of understanding with Brampton-based armoured vehicle manufacturer Roshel for the potential sale of its idled assembly plant, positioning a major GTA industrial property for a return to production.
The 269-acre campus at 2000 Williams Parkway E. contains 2.95 million square feet of manufacturing space. It has been inactive since production ended in 2023.
“Stellantis believes that Roshel represents a strong path to restoring sustainable operations at Brampton Assembly,” the automaker tells Connect.
Roshel is one of North America’s largest manufacturers of armoured vehicles for military, law enforcement and commercial customers. Its Senator armoured personnel carrier is built for defence, border patrol and emergency response applications. More than 2,500 Roshel vehicles are in service in Ukraine, while Canada committed another 383 Senator vehicles to the country.
The company operates a full-cycle production model encompassing vehicle design, metal fabrication, welding, painting and mechanical and electrical assembly. Roshel says hundreds of its vehicles are deployed annually, making the former automotive plant a potential platform for expanding its existing Brampton-based advanced manufacturing operation.
The property is designated M2-305 industrial, with permissions including manufacturing, processing and assembly. Brampton council has directed city staff to pursue Official Plan and zoning protections reserving the site for automotive assembly and related manufacturing.
The sale has complicated Stellantis’s contract negotiations with Unifor, which paused talks over the plant’s future. Stellantis began retooling the facility for Jeep production in 2024, halted the work in 2025 and later moved Jeep Compass production to the U.S.
