Synvest To Acquire 8 Hotel Accent Inns, Hotel Zed Portfolio

Vancouver-based Synvest is acquiring the eight-hotel Accent Inns and Hotel Zed portfolio from the Farmer family, adding about 800 rooms across six B.C. markets.

The deal includes five Accent Inns in Richmond, Burnaby, Victoria, Kelowna and Kamloops, along with Hotel Zed properties in Victoria, Kelowna and Tofino and the ROAR restaurant in Tofino.

Terms were not disclosed and the sale is expected to close at the end of November. The companies have not detailed whether the underlying real estate at all eight hotels is included.

The acquisition expands a B.C. hotel portfolio Synvest has been building through its Roadside Hospitality platform. Its holdings include the Royal Scot Hotel & Suites and Bedford Regency Hotel in Victoria, along with properties in Nanaimo, Penticton and Osoyoos and a hotel development planned for downtown Vancouver.

Accent Inns was founded by Terry Farmer in 1986 and has remained family owned.

“This is an emotional day for me and for our team,” CEO Mandy Farmer said. “I am deeply proud of the company and culture we have built together.”

Synvest said existing teams will remain in place and the Accent Inns and Hotel Zed brands will continue operating after the sale.
