The Robson Hotel Rising On Site Of Inn Destroyed By Jasper Wildfire

Construction is underway on The Robson, a new hotel rising on the site of the Mount Robson Inn, which was destroyed in the 2024 Jasper wildfire.

Vantage Hotels unveiled the new name Aug. 4 and said the property is expected to welcome guests in 2027. The company describes The Robson as a mountain stay inspired by the landscape, history and spirit of the Canadian Rockies.

The hotel is being built at 902 Connaught Drive, near the southern end of Jasper’s commercial district. The original building was constructed in 1958 and had operated as the Mount Robson Inn since the 1970s.

The approximately 80-room hotel underwent several upgrades over the decades, including an exterior renovation in 2016 and the addition of a breakfast room in 2018. It completed its final renovation in spring 2024, just months before it was destroyed by the wildfire July 24.

The fast-moving fire destroyed 358 structures, or approximately one-third of the town’s buildings, including the neighbouring Maligne Lodge and numerous homes and businesses.

Variances for the new development were approved following a public hearing July 31, 2025. Tourism Jasper has described the project as a rebuild and property enhancement featuring upgraded facilities and refreshed spaces.

Vantage Hotels said The Robson will honour the history of the former inn while establishing a new hospitality experience. Additional details about its rooms, amenities and design are expected to be released as construction progresses.
