Vancouver City Council Approves Three Large Apartment Projects
Vancouver city council has approved three rental-apartment tower projects in the Broadway corridor, the Daily Hive reported.
The projects will add nearly 500 new homes to the area. According to Daily Hive, these developments mark some of the city’s first development-plan approvals of 2025.
The projects will collectively deliver 490 secured rental units, including 392 market-rate homes and 98 below-market units, meeting affordability requirements.
The tallest, a 25-storey tower at 1434-1456 West 8th Avenue by PCI Developments, will stand near the future South Granville SkyTrain station. The other two, at 1245-1265 West 10th Avenue and 1190 West 10th Avenue, will reach 20 and 22 storeys, respectively.
The 1245-1265 West 10th Avenue is being developed by Westridge Holdings, while the 1190 West 10th property is a joint-venture involving Prospero International Realty and Five Mile Holdings.
All three sites are close to the new Broadway SkyTrain line, set to open in 2027. Two will replace aging low-rise apartments, while one will be built on a former commercial lot.
These approvals are part of the city’s broader push for transit-oriented housing under the Broadway Area Plan approved in late 2024.
