Vancouver Food Bank Acquires Permanent Home for $15M

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank has purchased a permanent home for $15 million.

Located at 8345 Winston Street in Burnaby, B.C., the 78,000-square-foot facility will serve as the organization’s new headquarters and central distribution hub. The acquisition marks the first time in its history that the food bank has owned its own facility.

The food bank was forced to relocate six times in the past four years. The purchase came after the food bank raised the necessary funds through its first capital campaign.

“I am deeply grateful to every donor, partner, and volunteer who made this campaign a success,” said David Long, the food bank’s CEO.

The organization said the purchase will allow it to better serve the growing number of people who rely on its services across the region.

The building provides significantly expanded space compared to the food bank’s previous leased premises.
