Foodtastic to Open Hundreds of Dunkin’ Shops Across Canada
Foodtastic announced Tuesday that it has signed a master-franchising agreement with Inspire Brands to open hundreds of Dunkin’ locations across Canada.
The agreement gives Saint-Laurent, Que.-based Foodtastic exclusive rights to develop the brand nationally through both corporate and franchise-operated locations. The move marks a return to the Canadian market for the globally recognized coffee and donut chain, which operates more than 14,200 restaurants in nearly 40 markets.
“Bringing Dunkin’ back to Canada is a significant growth opportunity for Foodtastic and our franchise partners across the country,” said Peter Mammas, Foodtastic’s founder and CEO. “This agreement demonstrates the strength of our relationship with Inspire Brands and the confidence we have built together through our work with Jimmy John’s in Canada. We are committed to growing the Dunkin’ brand thoughtfully to meet the needs of Canadian guests and communities.”
The first Canadian location is expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027. Foodtastic will oversee market development, franchisee recruitment and operations. The menu is slated to include hot and iced coffees, espresso beverages, donuts and sandwiches.
The partnership builds on thhe e existing relationship between the two companies, as Foodtastic is already tasked with growing the Jimmy John’s brand within Canada.
“Dunkin’s international footprint continues to thrive, so we are excited to bring this iconic brand to Canada through a strong, like-minded partner,” Michael Haley, president of International at Inspire Brands, said in the release. “Foodtastic has a proven track record of successfully growing leading restaurant brands, already established with their early progress growing Jimmy John’s. We value the shared commitment, operational expertise, and long-term vision they bring to this partnership.”
Mammas told CTV that he believes Foodtastic can open 600 to 700 Dunkin’ locations, including 200 in Quebec.
Dunkin’ left the Canadian market in 2018 after the chain’s business north of the 49th parallel declined and lost a lawsuit to Quebec-based franchisees who were awarded $16.4 million after citing a lack of support from the global parent.
