Siemens Completes Drummondville Electrical-Equipment Plant Expansion
Siemens Canada has completed a year-long expansion and modernization project at its electrical-equipment manufacturing facility in Drummondville, Que., marked by the opening of a second location that significantly increases production capacity and operational flexibility.
The project includes more than 40,000 square feet of new production space, expanded logistics capabilities and the integration of advanced digital design-to-manufacturing technologies aimed at improving productivity, quality and customer lead times. Siemens invested approximately $14 million in the project, which also received support from the Government of Quebec through a $5.6-million loan.
“For more than 50 years, Siemens Canada has proudly manufactured high-quality electrical products in Drummondville for customers across the country,” said Faisal Kazi, president and CEO of Siemens Canada. “This expansion ensures we can continue to scale and innovate to best serve Canadian customers. It also strengthens Canada’s manufacturing competitiveness, creates high-quality jobs, and showcases what is possible when digitalization, sustainability, and industrial expertise come together.”
The Drummondville facility manufactures load centres, metre centres, panel boards, power panels and switchboards for residential, commercial and industrial applications using 100%. Siemens said it is the only major electrical-distribution manufacturer producing residential load centres and metre centres in Canada.
The modernization is expected to increase production capacity, improve flexibility for complex products and shorten delivery timelines as demand grows from sectors, including smart infrastructure and data centres, said Siemens.
The expansion has also created approximately 40 new jobs, bringing total employment at the site to nearly 400 people. Siemens said it sources about $26 million annually in materials from Quebec suppliers, including businesses in the Drummondville area.
“The expansion and modernization of Siemens’ Drummondville facility is a clear demonstration of the strength and resilience of Quebec’s manufacturing sector. This investment will help boost productivity, create high-quality jobs, and further strengthen our industrial expertise,” said Bernard Drainville, Quebec’s minister of economy, innovation and energy. “At a time when competitiveness, innovation, and economic autonomy are more important than ever, we are proud to support projects that position Quebec as a leader in advanced manufacturing and sustainable economic growth.”
The project forms part of Siemens’ broader strategy to strengthen domestic manufacturing, advance digital transformation and support resilient supply chains across the country.
Siemens Canada is a technology company focused on industry, infrastructure, mobility and healthcare. Founded in 1912, the company reported approximately $2.3 billion in revenue in fiscal 2025 and employs about 4,600 people across 38 office and production facilities nationwide.
