CIBC Global Asset Management has launched a new private infrastructure-investment fund under a partnership with J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

The fund provides Canadian accredited investors with access to institutional-grade private infrastructure investments. The new investment vehicle expands CIBC GAM’s private-markets offerings and is designed with JPMAM’s Alternative Investments Strategy & Solutions team. It provides exposure to essential infrastructure assets and services worldwide, with a structure intended to help shield investors from traditional macroeconomic and public market cycles, said CIBC GAM.

According to the company, the fund offers contractual inflation protection through inflation-linked cash flows, access to large-scale global infrastructure and transportation networks, portfolio diversification through low correlation with public equity and fixed-income markets, and an investment strategy backed by J.P. Morgan’s experience in global real assets.

“In today’s challenging economic climate, building resilient portfolios means looking further than the usual mix of public equities and fixed income,” said David Wong, group chief investment officer at CIBC GAM. “Investors need solutions that can weather uncertainty and adapt to shifting market conditions, and that’s why we’re excited to offer access to private infrastructure.”

According to Travis Hughes, head of Canada at JPMAM, the fund offers investors a sophisticated option built on disciplined investment practices and rigorous risk management, and is designed to support long-term capital growth, and is designed to support long-term capital growth.

CIBC GAM said the launch reflects its continued expansion into private markets and its commitment to providing Canadian investors with broader access to global alternative investment opportunities.
