Shindico Acquires 94-Year-Old Winnipeg Apartment Building

Shindico has acquired a 94-year-old multi-family rental building in Winnipeg’s River Heights neighbourhood.

Winnipeg-based Shindico purchased the River Heights Apartments for an undisclosed price. The building was constructed by the Akman family, which longstanding business ties with Shindico.

“We are thrilled to have Shindico join us in preserving these legacy assets built by my grandfather, ” said Danny Akman in a news release.

The property is located at 378 Academy Road and comprises 21 classic and refurbished suites with hardwood flooring, large living rooms and

Shindico acquired Akman Management in a friendly takeover in November 2023. The deal included 1.2 million square feet of multi-family units and 18 commercial assets.

Shindico ranks among Manitoba’s largest privately owned commercial real estate companies.
