Annie Gagnon-Larocque heads national law firm McCarthy Tétrault’s real property and planning practice group in Quebec.

Based in Montreal, Gagnon-Larocque heads national law firm McCarthy Tetrault’s real property and planning practice group in Quebec. She represents and advises clients on a variety of commercial real estate transactions, particularly acquisitions, financings, developments, leases and joint-ventures. Her clients include financial institutions and public and private companies in the senior housing, retail and hotel industries.

Gagnon-Larocque is a regular speaker at commercial real estate conferences, has written about mixed-use development and other matters, and strives to help women advance inside and outside the industry. She served as CREW Montreal’s president from 2012 to 2014 and remains active with the network.

She mentors, and serves as a committee member, for the Urban Development Institute’s Quebec arm and serves on the American College of Mortgage Attorneys’ diversity and inclusion committee. Meanwhile, she sits on the Chez Doris (Doris House) women’s shelter board and serves on its real estate committee.

Chez Doris was created in honour of an impoverished young Montreal woman named Doris. The mother of four young children was trying to survive on the streets while struggling with alcoholism.

In 1974, Doris was murdered. She had been raped, tortured and her lifeless body was abandoned. The case remains unsolved.

Gagnon also strives to contribution to environmental and social governance. She has completed the global Competent Boards ESG and Climate certification program for board directors, senior executives and investors. The program’s courses are designed and led by Helle Bank Jorgensen, a woman who work with hundreds of leading companies.
