Another Specsavers Store Coming to Winnipeg

Specsavers will continue its aggressive Canadian expansion program with another store opening in Winnipeg.

Shindico said the U.K.-based retailer has leased a 2,160-square foot location in the Kenaston Crossing shopping centre at 1650 Kenaston Boulevard. The store will open in late 2024, said Winnipeg-based Shindico, a leading commercial real estate investment, development and property management firm.

The mall is anchored by a newly renovated Sobeys grocery store and includes Manitoba Liquor Mart and Boston Pizza outlets.

Specsavers opened three locations in Winnipeg earlier this year, at SmartCentres Winnipeg, CF Polo Park and St. Vital Centre, as part of the company’s expansion into Manitoba.

Since expanding into Canada in 2021, Specavers has opened about 125 locations in B.C., Alberta, Ontario and Manitoba.

Shindico negotiated the Specsavers lease among other recent activities. The company is listing two industrial properties, which span 14,000 square feet and 14,825 sf, at 555 Kapelus Drive in West St. Paul, Man., for lease.

Shindico is looking to lease out the properties together or separately.

The company has also listed 1,384 sf to 6,251 sf of second-floor office space at Garden City Plaza in Winnipeg for lease. Units can be taken up separately or in combination, said Shindico.

Headed by entrepreneur Sandy Shindleman, the company conducts most of its business in Winnipeg.
