AutoCanada Acquires Modern Auto Body Shop in Edmonton
AutoCanada has acquired the Modern Auto Body collision-repair and refinish shop in Edmonton for an undisclosed price.
The Edmonton-based company said acquisition expands its collision-repair footprint in the Alberta capital and strengthens its luxury-vehicle certification coverage across the region.
“Modern Auto Body is an excellent strategic fit for AutoCanada,” said Sam Cochrane, Interim CEO and CFO of AutoCanada. “The business aligns closely with our focus on premium and luxury certifications, offers attractive operational synergies, and is led by a highly experienced team. We are pleased to welcome Modern Auto Body to our platform.”
The facility is certified across several leading OEMs, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, MINI, Jaguar, Land Rover, Tesla, Porsche, Lexus, Acura, Honda, Bentley, Infiniti, Subaru, and Rivian. The acquisition enhances AutoCanada’s ability to serve luxury and electric vehicle collision-repair customers throughout Edmonton, said the company.
Modern Auto Body is strategically located approximately one kilometre from AutoCanada’s Crosstown Autobody and 11 kilometres from Doug’s Place Strathcona, and is in close proximity to AutoCanada’s five dealerships in the Edmonton area.
The acquired shop currently operates without direct-repair programs (DRPs), presenting an immediate opportunity to establish insurance partnerships, expand volume, and capture revenue synergies through AutoCanada’s existing insurer relationships, according to the company.
AutoCanada operates 64 franchised automotive dealerships that comprise 23 brands in eight provinces. In Canada, the company has 33 collision centres and one calibration centre, supported by 26 OEM certifications covering 37 vehicle brands.
AutoCanada is in the process of selling its U.S. operations.
