AutoCanada Acquires, Renames Fix Auto Stratford

AutoCanada has acquired the 20,000-square-foot Fix Auto Stratford collision-repair centre in Stratford, Ont., and renamed it ACX Stratford.

The automotive dealership and collision-repair company said the acquisition strengthens its presence in Southwestern Ontario by adding repair capacity within less than an hour’s drive of 10 AutoCanada dealerships. The approximately 20,000-square-foot facility complements the company’s fully utilized collision operations in London, Ont., and is expected to increase dealership referral opportunities while supporting future expansion throughout Ontario’s Kitchener-Waterloo corridor.

The purchase price and seller details were not disclosed.

AutoCanada’s latest acquisition serves Stratford and Perth County and maintains direct repair-program relationships with major insurers, including Intact, Definity and DGIG. While the facility does not currently hold orginal-equipment-manufacturer certifications, AutoCanada said it is equipped to qualify for multiple non-luxury certifications, with additional luxury and EV certifications expected to create further growth opportunities over time.

“ACX Stratford is an excellent addition to our growing collision platform,” said Samuel Cochrane, AutoCanada’s CEO and interim CFO. “The business expands our presence in Southwestern Ontario, adds an experienced team, and creates meaningful opportunities to grow through operational improvements, additional OEM certifications and stronger integration with our dealership network.”

AutoCanada said ACX Stratford will continue to operate under its existing local management team while benefitting from the company’s national operating platform, insurer relationships, OEM partnerships and operational best practices.

Edmonton-based AutoCanada operates 64 franchised dealerships across Canada representing 23 automotive brands, as well as three independent used-vehicle dealerships. It also operates 37 collision centres supported by 26 OEM certifications covering 37 vehicle brands. The company is also in the process of selling its U.S. dealership portfolio, which includes nine franchised dealerships operating under Leader Automotive Group.
