AutoCanada to Sell 13 Dealerships in U.S.

AutoCanada has entered into a definitive agreement to sell 13 franchised dealerships in the U.S. Midwest for about $82.7 million, including approximately $6.4 million in real estate.

The divestments are part of Edmonton-based AutoCanada’s previously disclosed plan to discontinue its U.S. business segment and sell all 17 of its American dealerships.

All of the 13 dealerships in the announced agreement are located in Illinois, including a Honda outlet in Chicago. The company said it is in active discussions to divest its remaining four U.S. dealerships.

The various dealerships under contract sell 15 different makes of vehicles, including American, European, and Asian brands.

The proposed transaction is subject to manufacturers’ approval and customary closing conditions.

In 2024, the 17 U.S. locations sold approximately 12,900 new and used retail vehicles.

AutoCanada’s continuing operations consist of 64 franchised dealerships in Canada offering 23 brands in eight provinces, along with 29 collision centres. In 2024, the Canadian dealerships sold approximately 85,000 new and used retail-priced vehicles.

AutoCanada said the collision centres offer “an opportunity for the company to retain customers at every touchpoint within the automotive ecosystem.”
