Avison Young Expands Canadian Valuation Team
Avison Young has expanded its Canadian valuation team through a series of recent hires.
Mike McFarlane, Liam Brunner and Chris Chornohos become principals of Avison Young and hold director positions. All three joined the company from Newmark.
McFarlane has become the company’s Ontario director of valuation and advisory services. Based in Toronto, he will bolster the full-service commercial real estate firm’s valuation business in Ontario, said Avison Young in a news release.
McFarlane has about 10 years of commercial real estate industry experience. He previously worked for Newmark in the Greater Toronto Area, where he served as vice-president of valuation and advisory. He has also worked as a manager of valuation services and advisor for Infrastructure Ontario.
Meanwhile, 25-year valuation veteran Brunner, based in Calgary, has become the Western Canadian leader of Avison Young’s valuation and advisory services business.
With Newmark, Brunner served as a senior managing director and the firm’s Canadian market leader. Before moving to Newmark, he served as leader of Deloitte’s Western Canadian real estate team and national director of property valuations.
He has also held managing director, and director positions with Cushman and Wakefield and Colliers, respectively.
Also based in Calgary, Chornohos will identify opportunities across Alberta and the rest of Canada while comprehensive valuations for clients across multi-family properties, land and development assets, and self-storage ventures.
He has a quarter century of industry experience in valuation, development, brokerage, investment sales and land sales.
