Avison Young Launches Property Tax Appeal Service in Vancouver

Avison Young has launched a new property tax appeal service practice in Vancouver.

In conjunction with the launch, the firm has hired Robert Blouin to lead the practice.

“Our new service will provide access to high-quality, complex valuations and tax assessments, as well as strategic client advocacy – which is one area that I hold near and dear, given my vast experience with advocating for reductions and reassessments over the years,” said Blouin, who also becomes a company principal.

Blouin moved to Avison Young from Altus Group, where he spent 17 years. He has two decades of experience across commercial properties, including office, retail, industrial, and development land – with a specialization in hospitality and multi-family.

His responsibilities will include  identifying appeal opportunities, and navigating property tax regulations to deliver strategic tax solutions that maximize client savings.

According to Avison Young, Blouin has worked with some of the largest regional and national investment firms and REITS. He is regarded as one of the most active property tax agents in B.C. and has a long track record of success at the various levels of appeal boards, the company says.

Blouin started his career with Deloitte.
