Avril to Open 10 New Grocery Stores in Quebec

Avril plans to open 10 new supermarkets across Quebec over the next five years, marking a major phase in the grocery retailer’s continued expansion.

The company specializes in organic food products.

As part of this growth, Avril will open locations in Gatineau and Saint-Jerome—two cities where the brand had not previously set up shop. The Gatineau store is scheduled to open its doors in September 2026, while the Saint-Jerome location is expected to welcome customers in spring 2027.

“After our expansion in Montreal and Laval, Saint-Jerome is a natural next step. It’s a true gateway to the North, where all the elements were in place to move forward,” said the company’s co-founders, Sylvie Senay and Rolland Tanguay, in a press release.

Headquartered in Granby, Que., Avril currently operates 13 stores, including two in Montreal and three in the greater Quebec City area. The company is also considering a potential move into Ontario, according to comments made by Senay in a late-2024 interview with La Presse.
