Boardwalk REIT has promoted Gregg Tinling to CFO.

Boardwalk REIT Names New CFO

Boardwalk REIT has promoted Gregg Tinling to CFO as has mentor prepares to depart the multi-family real estate organization.

Tinling currently serves as Calgary-based Boardwalk’s senior director of financial reporting. He has about 15 years of multi-family experience, including 11 with Boardwalk across two stints with the REIT. He will succeed Lisa Smandych, who will depart Boardwalk at the end of the second quarter to pursue different opportunities, the REIT announced.

Sam Kolias, Boardwalk’s CEO, praised Smandych as a key contributor to the REIT and an outstanding leader.

Since rejoining Boardwalk in 2020 from Northview Apartment REIT, Tinling has worked closely with Smandych. He spent about eight years with the REIT from 2005 to 2013 as a director of financial reporting before moving to Enbridge and Northview.

He has also worked as a financial reporting supervisor for Shelter Canadian Properties.

Kolias said Boardwalk expects Tinling’s transition to the CFO role to be seamless and further strengthen the REIT’s leadership team.,

Boardwalk owns and operates about 29,000 multi-family units spanning more than 29 million net rentable square feet.
