Boyd Completes US$1.3B Acquisition of Joe Hudson’s Collision
The Boyd Group has closed on its US$1.3-billion acquisition of Joe Hudson collision centres.
Winnipeg-based Boyd acquired 258 Joe Hudson’s autobody shops located in the U.S. Southeast for US$1.3 billion. The Joe Hudson’s portfolio spans 18 states. The chain has added 123 locations since 2020.
The acquisition expands Boyd’s location total to 1,301.
“The closing of the acquisition of Joe Hudson’s represents a transformative step for Boyd, further solidifying our position as a leading player in the highly fragmented North American collision industry,” said Brian Kaner, president and CEO of Boyd. “Joe Hudson’s brings a strong operational track record, financially and operationally, disciplined growth, and a complementary regional footprint that aligns perfectly with Boyd’s growth strategy and focus on operational excellence.”
Boyd funded the acquisition through a $525-million Canadian private-placement offering, along with an upsized US$897-million American bought-deal and a combination of drawings on the company’s evolving credit facilities.
Boyd purchase the entire Joe Hudson’s business, which generated US$722 million in sales and 8.7% adjusted EBITDA in the trailing 12-month period that ended June 30, 2025.
