Brookfield Residential Among First Taza Park Investors
Three homebuilders—Brookfield Residential, Crystal Creek Homes, and Homes by Avi—have been selected as the first residential developers for the massive Taza Park mixed-use project.
The planned investments mark a major milestone for the Indigenous-led development located just west of Calgary’s city limits.
Taza Park, part of a 1,200-acre project led by the Tsuut’ina Nation and Canderel, is a 470-acre master-planned community expected to accommodate approximately 12,000 residents. The development, situated on Tsuut’ina land, will include about 6,500 residential units and more than 1 million square feet of retail and other commercial spaces.
Designed to integrate cultural authenticity with modern living, the community will also feature 20 acres of green space, including parks, wetlands, and dog parks.
“The selection of Brookfield Residential, Crystal Creek Homes, and Homes by Avi marks an exciting chapter in the Taza development journey,” said James Robertson, president of Calgary-based Taza. “These builders bring a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to quality, sustainability, and community values that align with our vision for Taza Park.”
Calgary-based Brookfield Residential will develop Rhythm, a collection of townhomes with walk-out and rooftop patios.
“We are honored to be part of this transformational development,” said Ryan Moon, vice-president of multi-family homes for Brookfield Residential in Alberta. “This partnership is an opportunity to build not just homes, but a vibrant and inclusive community that celebrates the legacy of the Tsuut’ina Nation.”
Homes by Avi will introduce Aurora, a 46-townhome project offering contemporary two- and three-bedroom residences with 24 secondary suites.
“From its westside location with outstanding views of the Rockies to its vibrant amenities and connection to major transportation corridors, Taza Park is an unbeatable home investment in one of the most innovative residential communities,” said Calgary-based Avi’s CEO Charron Ungar.
Calgary-headquartered Crystal Creek will develop Juniper Ridge, a collection of villas with loft and walkout options designed for multigenerational living.
“Our commitment to innovative design and quality craftsmanship aligns perfectly with the vision for Taza Park,” said Justin Bobier, president and CEO.
Construction of roads, utilities, and a water reservoir is already underway. The reservoir, designed by Zeidler Architecture in collaboration with a Tsuut’ina Nation elder, symbolizes the community’s cultural heritage, reflecting the form of a tipi and inspired by a beaver dam, honouring the Tsuut’ina people, known as the Beaver People.
Taza Park is one of the largest Indigenous-led real estate projects in North America and aims to integrate residential, commercial, and natural spaces while fostering economic self-determination for the Tsuut’ina Nation.
