Cadillac Fairview Aims to Add 1,330 MF Suites at Richmond Centre

Cadillac Fairview is seeking to add 1,330 multi-family units at Richmond Centre as part of the second phase of the mall’s expansion, the Richmond News reported.

The company has filed a development application that is working its way towards city council approval, according to the report.

The second phase will replace the existing multi-level parkade located on No. 3 Road between Park and Anderson roads, the News reported.

According to city documents cited by the News, the proposed development will include 713 market condominium units, 573 market rentals, and 44 affordable rentals, adding approximately 1.1 million square feet of living space to Richmond’s city centre. The project is part of a broader transformation of the south end of the mall, which will eventually house approximately 2,200 units across 12 towers.

“The technical and detailed design review of the phase two proposal is ongoing,” city spokesman Clay Adams told the News. “Once completed, it will be reviewed at a development-permit panel meeting and then, if endorsed, will go to city council for final approval.”

There is currently no timeline for the city council review.

The first phase of the redevelopment is well underway, with three towers nearing completion and another four under construction, the News reported.

Toronto-based Cadillac Fairview has not commented on the second phase of the expansion, the News reported.
