Canada’s 5C to Develop Data Centres in Phoenix
Canada’s 5C has launched a new data-centre development project in Phoenix as part of the company’s expansion into region.
Montreal-based 5C indicated that it will develop more Phoenix-area data centres but did not offer a specific timeline for doing so. The company has expanded rapidly since starting up in 2023.
Known as PHX01, the inaugural 140,000-square-foot facility is slated to commence operations in 2025. The new centre will be able to accommodate the most demanding AI and machine- learning workloads, supporting power densities of up to 132 kilowatt hours per cabinet, according to a company news release.
“This project will bring economic growth and high-quality job opportunities to the area,” said Laura Pastor, a Phoenix city councillor. “We are excited to see [these] substantial investment and infrastructure improvements to the neighbourhood.”
Montreal-based 5C is a leading data-centre provider, serving hyperscalers, cloud-computing providers, and enterprise customers across North America. The company is headed by Steve Perez, who previously worked with Vantage, Hypertec and Bell, among other technology firms.
