Captiva Verde Partnering with Mi’kmaq on 55-Acre Mixed-Use Project Near Moncton

Captiva Verde Wellness Corp. has acquired a 49% stake in Matnaggewinu Development Corporation (MDC), a Mi’kmaq-led entity, to advance a major mixed-use project in the Moncton, N.B., area and other Indigenous economic development.

The 55-acre mixed-use development site is approximately six kilometres west of Moncton, near the Trans-Canada Highway. Plans for the site include hotels, retail, apartments and mixed housing, fuelling stations and service hubs, and recreational spaces, all with a focus on sustainability.

MDC, founded by Elsipogtog First Nation member Nowlen Augustine, aims to enhance economic self-sufficiency for Mi’kmaq communities through the Moncton-area project and future initiatives.

Coquitlam, B.C.-based Captiva Verde is a sustainable real estate company. Its investments include environmentally friendly residential communities, disruptive manufacturing facilities, organic food production, and pharmaceutical products.
