Caulfeild Launching New Hank Menswear Chain Across GTA
The collapse of the Hudson’s Bay Company and other Canadian department-store closures have prompted to Caulfeild Apparel Group it own chain across the Greater Toronto Area.
Caulfeild is re-entering the retail sector with the launch of Hank, a new multi-brand menswear boutique concept set to open multiple locations across the region in 2026, the company announced Wednesday.
The Oakville, Ont.-based company, one of Canada’s longest-standing independently owned apparel and distribution firms, says Hank is designed as a modern menswear destination inspired by authentic living, craftsmanship and refined design. Founded in 1886, Caulfeild began as a retailer before its business evolved into other areas of the clothing sector.
Offering a curated selection of premium brands, the Hank concept will combine service-driven expertise with work-life-inspired retail spaces, said Caulfeild.
“The closure of multiple major department stores left a large gap to fill in premium menswear, allowing us to envision a future boutique offering with a multi-brand experience tied to the premium and contemporary consumer,” said Michael Purkis, CEO of Caulfeild.
“For over a century, we have guided and worked in partnership with the country’s leading heritage destinations, so the launch of Hank is a natural evolution that moves us forward into the future while honouring our roots in menswear apparel.”
The forthcoming chain’s name is inspired by the traditional meaning of “a hank,” a coil of thread symbolizing craftsmanship and raw creativity, reflecting modern masculinity through thoughtful service and refined design, said Caulfeild.
Hank retail destinations are scheduled to open throughout the GTA in 2026, with additional details to be announced.
