CGC Completes Acquisition of Imperial Building Products
CGC Inc., has closed on its purchase of Imperial Building Products (IBP), a Canadian manufacturer of steel framing components, drywall trims, accessories, and proprietary structural solutions.
CGC announced its intention to acquire Imperial in June. IBP, established in 1990 as a division of Imperial Manufacturing Group and headquartered in Richibucto, N.B., operates manufacturing facilities in New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and B.C.
The deal calls for IBP’s five-plant network to be integrated with CGC’s core drywall and ceiling business, enhancing its ability to offer broader solutions for residential and commercial builders. CGC said acquisition positions the company for accelerated national growth and deepens its presence in the Canadian construction industry.
As a result of the acquisition, CGC has appointed Sid Tetz to lead IBP as general manager and vice-president of the company. Tetz previously served as CGC’s vice-president of sales and marketing.
“By combining our expertise in wall and ceiling solutions with IBP’s leadership in steel framing, we’re creating a more complete, reliable offering for our customers,” Steve Youngblut, president of Oakville, Ont,.-based CGC, said Wednesday.
“This integration allows us to deliver even greater value to suppliers and contractors nationwide and to support Canada’s housing and infrastructure priorities.”
Plans call for IBP to operate as a distinct business unit within CGC, expanding its footprint in key markets and complementing its core portfolio of building solutions. There are no immediate changes anticipated for IBP employees, customers or suppliers.
“We are proud to become part of the CGC family and join forces with a company that shares our commitment to Canadian manufacturing, innovation and builders,” said Cesare Minchillo, President of IBP. “This acquisition brings together two Canadian companies with complementary strengths and shared values. By working together, we will be able to enhance our product offerings, expand our reach and continue supporting Canada’s builders with the highest standards of service and reliability.”
The transaction involved 100% of IBP’s shares and did not include Imperial Metal Services, Imperial Manufacturing Group or other affiliated companies.
