Chick-fil-A Opens New Restaurant in Newmarket

Chick-fil-A has opened a new restaurant in Newmarket, Ont.

Known as Chick-fil-A Newmarket East, the outlet is located at 1111 Davis Drive. It became the U.S.-based chicken sandwich chain’s 19th location in Canada and employs 100-110 full- and part-time employees.

The opening was the third and launch of a new Chick-fil-A restaurant in Canada this year. The U.S.-based chain recently opened a new Calgary location at 9223 Macleod Trail S.W., and is getting ready to open another Edmonton location.

The Newmarket franchise location is owned and operated by Julia Calandra, a dual Canadian-U.S. citizen who developed a dream to own Chick-fil-a restaurant while working for the chain in Florida while she was a high school and university student.

Chick-fil-A Newmarket East will offer dine-in and drive-thru service from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

To celebrate the opening, Chick-fil-A will donate about $34,000 to a local non-profit organization through Second Harvest, one of Canada’s largest food-rescue organizations.

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A will meet its goal of opening four Canadian locations this year. The chain opened its first Canadian location in 2019 in downtown Toronto.

Chick-fil-A licenses about 3,000 independently owned franchises in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
