Chrystal Burns is the executive vice-president of Canadian retail at QuadReal.
In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the performance of the company’s retail properties across Canada. Since joining QuadReal in 2017, Burns has led significant redevelopment projects, including the transformation of Vancouver’s Oakridge Park—a $6.2 billion, seven-year project set to convert Oakridge Shopping Centre into a five-million-square-foot mixed-use hub. She has also overseen the leasing of the retail component of the Post, the major mixed-use redevelopment of the former Canada Post office in downtown Vancouver. Loblaw opened a City Market grocery store on the ground floor of the two-tower project.
Before joining QuadReal, Burns held progressive roles at Bentall Kennedy (now BentallGreenOak), where she last served as retail sector lead, overseeing a $2-billion asset management portfolio across Canada. She has also worked for a number of other real estate firms, including Morguard.
A dedicated advocate for women in real estate, Burns co-founded CREW Vancouver and assumed many duties over the years, including president. She continues to be active in CREW, co-chairing the 2024 CREW Network conference in Vancouver. She has been recognized for her contributions to the industry and her commitment to supporting women, receiving the 2022 Woman of Influence Award from CREW Vancouver.
These are just some of the reasons why Burns has received a 2024 Canadian Women in Real Estate Award.
