Cidex Starts Construction on $80M Edmonton Mixed-Use Project

Cidex Group has commenced construction on a new $80-million mixed-use development in Edmonton.

The Hat at Old Strathcona project is located in one of Edmonton’s historic districts near the popular Whyte Avenue entertainment area. The development will include multiple residential towers and ground-level retail space, according to a description posted on the Alberta government’s major projects website.

The site is currently a surface parking lot. Toronto-based Norr is serving as the project’s architect.

Construction is slated to finish in 2025.

Cidex is a Calgary-based real estate development company that aims to repurpose communities and transform cities while building commercial opportunities that bolster entrepreneurship. The company has other Hat- branded development projects elsewhere in Edmonton and in Calgary, as well as other multi-family and retail real estate projects in Alberta.
