City of Calgary Proposes Transit-Oriented Development
The City of Calgary is proposing a future transit-oriented residential development in the Riverbend district.
The development would be situated on 15 acres of city-owned brownfield land near the South Hill light-rapid-transit station on the future Green Line.
“The proposal is to subdivide the site into four or five development sites to accommodate a variety of low-and-medium-profile residential housing options, along with a significant open space allotment,” states a city online information document.
The city wants to develop 500-600 units within ground-level townhouses standing two to three storeys. Plans also call for multi-residential buildings ranging from four to six floors.
Two parks would also be located within the area, and a multi-modal road network would be constructed.
The city will hold a public information session in November. A consultant is slated to submit a development proposal on the city’s behalf in late 2022 or early 203.
